Youre one of my favorite posters on here, but that is simply not true. FAR BETTER is a gigantic overstatement. I understand some of the UHS fans on here have pissed you off, but that does not mean you can throw logic out the window. Far better coaching staffs? Yes, 100%.
Far better players? The answer is a resounding no. Better players? Obviously, CW beat UHS (at home when UHS had a 20 point lead in the 1st quarter. Say what you want about the rest of the game, but its pretty damn unlikely for a team that has sooo many inferior players to jump out to a 20 point lead on the road. Turnovers or whatever, long passes, are a part of the game) but if CW had far better players, they would have won by 40. They didnt.

The only thing that kept them from winning by 40 was in inability to hang onto the ball. They had 7 fumbles in that game and lost 1. The others were drive killers. When you're a team that can't throw and you're 2nd and 5 and lose 4-8 yards on a fumble and that puts you in 3rd and long you're screwed. Nobody from Union has pissed me off though. The trio of dolts claiming them to be the greatest thing ever before and early in the season (who have now disappeared or are singing an entirely different tune) got on everyone's nerves but it was no worse than the raider4life and the Norton dumbasses a couple years ago.

But they only lost one fumble, so its not as if Union was gaining possession. But the point still stands that if a team had exponentially better players,they wouldnt fumble and put themselves in that situation.
Im sorry, but I still do not believe CW or JIB or even GC has far better players. If UHS had inferior talent, they would have gotten rolled by Richlands, VHS, SN, and CW. They didnt get rolled in any game. They have comparable talent to any team on their schedule. Its never been a lack of talent. QB play has been shaky at times and that burdens a team quite a bit. Not to mention an inability to tackle.
But if CW, GC, SN, or even Richlands had far better players, UHS would have gotten absolutely steamrolled by those teams because UHS has a first year coaching staff that has not quite been the Alabama staff.

Beating VHS is nothing special. That's a team that got beat by 31 by John Battle. That Battle team that JIB put almost 60 on. At that point in time of the season Clintwood had fumbled probably 20 times. Since that first half against Union where they realed off 30 unanswered points they've held on to the ball and came together as a team. The talent level isn't close. Clintwood has 5-8 players better than anyone Union has. Everyone, everywhere see's it except you guys. I don't know why that is. All you heard about was all of this talent that was there when Cedric and the Pinkston's were there, how exactly were they talented. Cedric was a good athlete but I don't think that makes him some tremendous football talent. I think you guys have been spoiled by the 80's and 90's and have to realize that the kids you have now wouldn't be 3rd string on those teams.

You can keep saying its not close, it does not make it true. Once again, if CW or GC or RHS had that much more talent, they blow UHS away. But they dont.

You all can say what you want, but Union's season hinged on winning a Clintwood. If they has won then, things would probably be a lot different. The Clintwood game showed just how "one-dimintional" Union is on both offense and defense. I blame this mostly on the box coaches for not being able to identify and make the necessary adjustments. To-this-day, they have not made ANY adjustments. That is the biggest reason for having box coaches. There is your problem folks. I truly think Turner's hands were "tied" when it came to picking his assistants. Also, it would help if these coaches would listen to the box coaches. There should only be 2 coaches on the field with the authority to call any offensive play, or defensive alignment. The head coach(obviously), and his defensive coordinator. When you have 5-6 coaches on the field with headphones on, then you have created a monster.
Again, I truly believe Turner had absolutely no input as to who his assistants were gonna be. These are kids playing this game and they all seem earnest in wanting to win. They are talented individuals and they really want to win, but I think that they can feel that there is some sort of "rift" between Turner and Austin. There has to be. Just watch them and you will see. Once Turner was named the coach, Austin should have gone somewhere else. The same would have been true had Austin got the job, Turner should have gone somewhere else. I get the feeling, and I know some of you have the feeling too that there is really no chain of command between those two. Austin thinks he has just as much authority as Turner does. Just count the coaches on the field. Turner, Austin, Thomas, McKinney, Bostic, and there are more. Don't you think that is too many? I remember the days when there was only 3, 4 at the most on the sidelines. You just don't need that many. It is a waste. The kids don't know who to listen to.
Parents have ALWAYS been at the practices at both P.V. and Appy. There always will be until Turner gets the backing of his AD and Principal to make them leave. He really needs to close his practices. This goes not only for Union, but all the schools in the area. Tomorrow, take a look around your respective schools and just look at the parents attending the practices. It is comical. Union is just cursed with the parents voicing their opinion as to what should be done. When I played for Riggs and Robinette, they would not allow any parents/fans on the practice field at all. They could sit at the top of the bleachers on the home side, but they did not dare to come onto the field the way the Union parents do. Maybe Turner needs to take a page from the past on that.
